Root Canal Treatment

Home / Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a treatment to repair and save a severely damaged or inflamed tooth. Treatment includes removing the damaged part of the tooth (the pulp of the tooth), cleaning, disinfecting and refilling. This procedure seals the root canals securely. Years ago, teeth with inflamed or damaged roots were being extracted. Today, root canal treatment can save these teeth.

Root Canal treatment is the removal of the small, thread- like tissue in the center of the teeth. That is, the removal of the (pulp)

When the pulp becomes infected or dies, if left untreated, pus can build up at the root of the tooth, forming an abscess in the jawbone. An abscess can destroy the bone surrounding the tooth, causing pain.

Treated and repaired tooth/teeth can be used for a lifetime with correct oral and dental care. Oral care and regular dental examinations are necessary to prevent further problems that may occur in the future, as cavities may occur again in the treated tooth.

Visit your dentist regularly for dental cleanings and checkups.
